BMW has officially announced its redesigned BMW X3 SUV of the 2007 model year. Scheduled to go on sale this fall, the top version of the car will feature a 3.0-liter diesel engine, BMW's most powerful drivetrain derived from a much heavier BMW 535d. The twin-turbo engine produces 286 hp and 580 Nm of torque and lets the new X3 accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in only 6.6 seconds, making it more sport than utility vehicle. Its maximum speed tops 240 km/h (149 mph)

The new BMW X3 will also feature new look, such as a larger kidney grille, a color-coded spoiler with vertical uprights, and the new fog-lights incorporated into the main section of the body work. The rear lights now feature rods of LED lights
The new BMW X3 also features traction control system allied to xDrive four-wheel-drive system. For the first time on a BMW X model Dynamic Stability Control + (DSC+) system is fitted as standard. In addition to the all round traction control benefits of such technology, DSC+ on the X3 comes with four additional features aimed at improving safety.
Prices and full specification will be announced later.
